Blocking Software For Your Computer

Like most households in the United States we have a home computer. Unlike most households our computer is a recent addition to the family. I am still amazed at the wealth of information that is available with only a few clicks of the keyboard.

As with all good and wonderful things there are also the objectionable and distasteful sides to unlimited information. I believe in free speech and advocate for individual rights, however I do not want my children exposed to things that I find offensive, especially within our home. I found that by using blocking software I can monitor what my children are exposed to without needing to sit next to them at our computer.

I want them to feel free to do their homework and communicate with friends and play games when I am in another room or away from home, but I also know that children are naturally curious and may get involved in web sites that can be unhealthy for them.

Blocking software allows for controls of what sites are accessible. This can include instant messaging, email, chat rooms and websites. The blocking software can be adjusted to fit the needs of the user.
